The Art of Journal Writing Course
A self reflective tool for developing creativity and spiritual
awareness
by Peg Ritter-Rogers, M.A.
Journal writing is a powerful tool for anyone desiring to get
to know themselves deeply and consciously. Through guidance and
helpful feedback, writers can keep a daily journal and track themselves
and their changing world and worldview. We all change moment -to
-moment. When we write, the journal can be used as a mirror to
reflect back to us what is going on in our lives. It can be the
vehicle for dramatic life changes or gentle nudging to grow and
have fuller, juicier lives. It can also reflect to us what is
right and joyful in our lives. It can be a place to express our
gratitude for all that is beautiful and fulfilling.
The journal is a place to write all of your feelings and thoughts
as they flow out of you. It is important to allow, without judgment
or plan, any and all thoughts, feelings, reactions to come out
on the paper. There are techniques that will allow you to break
free from the narrow definitions of what "should"or
"ought"to be written in your journal.
The journal is a sacred book. It can hold the sum total of all
of a person's confusing and enlightened, angry and happy, quiet
and boisterous imaginings, thoughts and desires. It is not a book
to be treated as just another task, but the place where your soul
can begin to flourish and grow.
